About History Writer

It was a chance conversation with the Chairman of Silver Cross that led to our first book project. Alan Halsall wanted to record the history of his iconic pram manufacturer and share the story with customers and business partners. I was working as a writer and producer in broadcast television and wanted to use my creative and project management skills in new areas, so I offered to help.

I thoroughly enjoyed writing the book and the enthusiastic response to its publication encouraged me to look for similar commissions. Our second book project is a history of Grattan, the Bradford-based mail order business, which was published in 2012 to coincide with the company's centenary celebrations.

History Writer is a team of talented, hard-working freelancers with a range of skills and specialist interests. I act as the editor and I also project manage the commissions. Over the course of my career in television I worked for both ITV and the BBC in senior editorial roles, winning two Bafta's as a producer and writer.

History Writer works with a designer and printer but retains creative control to ensure we deliver to your specifications. We provide a bespoke, personal service and are committed to meeting the needs of our clients.
